Our sincere thanks to the many alumni and friends who have generously supported the UW's Department of Animal Sciences. Private gifts are critical to ensuring that the department maintains its stature as a leader in Animal Sciences programs. Your donations help us attract top faculty and graduate students, support promising undergraduate majors, support research in specific species, host stimulating lectures, and other scholarly activities. The UW-Animal Sciences Department has a long and rich history. Below is a list of specific funds. Gifts of any size are most welcome and gratefully appreciated.

Serves as the department's "general" account to be used at the discretion of the Chair of the Department of Animal Science.
Julie Busby Memorial Fund-Graduate Travel (UW Foundation #12561088)
This fund was established to provide funds for graduate student travel to professional meetings. The fund welcomes contributions and bequests Julie Busby’s name from alumni, friends, corporations and foundations.

Cargill / Benevenga Undergraduate Research Endowment (UW Foundation #12563003)
This fund was established to provide undergraduate students with an opportunity to participate in research during their undergraduate experience.
Dennis R Buege Meat Science Endowed Student (UW Foundation #12564489)
This fund was established in memory of Dennis Buege to award an undergraduate student with special interest in the area of Meat Science.
Mary G Heisdorf Memorial Scholarship Fund (UW Foundation # 32045363)
This fund, established in the memory of Mary G Heisdorf, is given to an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in poultry science.
Milt Sunde Scholarship Fund (UW Foundation #12040228)
This fund was established to recognize a Poultry Science student who has completed at least two courses in the department. Preference given to a student who has worked in the Poultry Research Lab. Leadership and academic performance considered.
MJ Wylie Animal Sciences Education & Outreach (UW Foundation #12563553)
This fund was established to provide the opportunity for undergraduate students to work on extension projects in animal sciences. The fund welcomes contributions and bequests in MJ Wylie’s name from alumni, friends, corporations and foundations.

PROGRAM SUPPORT

Aquaculture Program (UW Foundation #12390144)
This fund was established to provide funding for the Aquaculture program headed by Dr Jeffrey Malison.
Equine Extension & Teaching (UW Foundation #12562881)
This fund was established to provide resources for extension and teaching in the area of horse production.
AB Chapman Lecture Fund (UW Foundation #12560762)
This fund was established to support the AB Chapman Lectures. The A.B. Chapman Lectures in Animal Breeding and Genetics have been presented annually from 1994 by leading world scholars in the various fields related to genetic improvement of livestock. Past speakers include Prof Agustin Blasco, Leo Dempfle, John Pollak, Jack Dekkers, Dale Van Vleck, James Crow, Max Rothschild.

Meat Science & Muscle Biology Program (UW Foundation #12563418)
this fund was established to support the mission of the Meat / Muscle Biology: (1) to improve the quality of muscle foods through research concerned with mechanisms regarding product enhancement, deterioration, and safety in fresh and processed meats; (2) to develop new knowledge about muscle structure and function that may be applied to animal science and human health.
